Tamegroute pottery known for its green colour. To the tradition of making the originally green crockery, a new colour was added several years ago, Tamegroute yellow or mustard colour. This beautiful pottery was made in the village of Tamegroute. In Berber, Tamegroute literally means "the last village before the desert". The green pottery, which is only made by a limited number of families, has an ancient history. The pottery is made from the clay from a local river called the Draa River. The glaze of this Tamegroute pottery consists of magnesium and copper. Also, this ceramic is not fired in a modern kiln but still using the old technique namely coal. This gives the odd finish to the Tamegroute.
The Tamegroute tableware and home accessories are raw, rustic, imperfect and unique, none of the bowls, plates, pots, decanters, vases or candlesticks are the same. By purchasing this beautiful green or mustard pottery, you truly bring a piece of history and craft into your home.
Please note: All Tamegroute pottery are handmade and may have minor imperfections, deviate from sizes and may vary slightly. But it is precisely the imperfection of this pottery that makes it so beautiful.
